The Sydney Vivid Festival is on again for the next 2 weeks and the lighting of the sails of the Opera House is one of the highlights.

I would say "unique". It is one of the places in the world that I would like to see in person.

I truly reckon they ought to have "vivid" late summer, more people would enjoy it in the warmer weather.
Great shot Malcolm.

Thanks Karla. In summer it gets dark too late and young famlies would miss out. But I'm with you and would much prefer summer :-)

True I guess but logically the young families still miss out because they wont take their little fairy flosses out into the cold

Very cool! I know this has to be one of the most photographed structures in the world but it still would be cool to see it in person and maybe take a shot or too

If it helps, i've been there in person & its not nearly as impressive as it looks. In fact this angle is really the only angle it really photographs really well from.

Thanks. I'm not likely to ever be there in person. Maybe in another life.

Its not really worth it, all things considered. Then again i hate Sydney: Sydney is kind of how i imagine visiting detroit is like. Smokey, cold, wet, miserable, broken down & sprawling.

Most cities are like Detroit--and you've got the right impression of Detroit :lmao: If I should ever get the chance to visit Australia I shall make a bee-line from the airport to a place called Lightning Ridge and try to time my visit to the great thunderstorm season
