Hi,

I try to write my first critique here...

This is a very special image of Australia. I think this is a picture without any mistake.

At the most important composition, the tree and the web are not in the middle of the picture. Also the horizon is shown horizontal. The depth of focus is given everywhere. This image contains the classical foreground, middleground and background. The special here is that every ground has to tell you something. I try to say what they tell *me*. Maybe it tells *you* something different:

The foreground: The eycatcher is the web on the right side in the gras. The web is highly visible. The image is telling the story in cold colors.

The middleground: The tree is standing in the lost plain. There is nothing around like the high tree. You find peace here. Nothing is disturbing the loneliness.

The background: At the horizon, deep in the background you see warm colors. This is a colorful wedge from the right side of the image that cannot reach the left side of the image.

In the background you also see the solution of the highly visible web you see in the foreground. The sun below the horizon attackes your brain. Is it at sunrise? Is it at sunset? The EXIF-information could be wrong but the solution is the hoarfrost on the web. The time is - yes - sunrise. The sun is rising and you still see the hoarfrost in the foreground.

The complete story:
Because of the title "Winter is Comming" the scene shows the watcher the last sunlight before the winter can come. The lonely tree shows the complex life in the Outback. This is the last life before the strong winter. The last heat of the sun is mixed with the upcoming cold and that produces the mysterious mist. The visitor of this scene must hurry up that he will not be trapped by the winter. He must try to escape the cold web and the scene. But it is to late because the warm colors left the scene. The "Winter is Coming"...

Thanks for this nice picture.
Special Greetings from Germany to Australia! :-)

Oh that looks cold! Townsville doesn't get much of a winter - it's a lovely 24 degrees, right now. :) I think I would die if I moved too far south. :S I like the warmth and humidity up here. ^^

That's a lovely photo, btw. I like the spider web. :D
